To pray is to take notice of the wonder, to regain a sense of the mystery
that animates all beings, the divine margin in all attainments.
Prayer is our humble answer to the inconceivable surprise of living.
~Abraham Joshua Heschel, Quest for God
As I have taken time to rest, God has surprised me, with the ways He has impressed upon me to pray as my soul yields to the Lord’s tender care.
The other day, I was struggling for perspective regarding some criticism I had received. It wasn’t a restful time. As I wrestled with The Lord about what to receive as constructive and what to disregard, He gently reminded me…“I am gentle and humble of heart and you will find rest for your soul” (Matt. 11:28).
As I got up off the mat and asked God to give me a humble heart, my soul was soon composed and quieted. I received the gift the words were intended be, and let go of the guilt never meant for me.
Much of this experience remains a mystery to me…but the Good News is that God understands what happens in the divine margin. May all who seek true rest find it through the prayerful wonderings of a humble heart like The Lord’s!
What are you wondering about? How can I be praying with you and for you?
