Crying Out

In this week before Palm Sunday, it is only natural to recall both the suffering and the love of our Lord. The Son of the living God lived and died passionately, with great love for those who respond by crying out to the Father for mercy. Long before Jesus walked among us, the Psalmist wrote the words Jesus cried out from the cross.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?
O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer,
and by night, but I find no rest.
Yet you are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel.
In you our fathers trusted;
they trusted, and you delivered them.
To you they cried and were rescued;
in you they trusted and were not put to shame.
~Psalm 22:1-5

May the passionate cry of our forsaken Lord be our invitation to turn our hearts toward God and to cry out for the deliverance we have been seeking throughout this season of Lent.
