Today I read a few chapters from the book of Job and was reminded of how often I have the privilege of listening to the struggles of those who are dear to God. In response, I spent time asking the Holy Spirit to give all of us the courage to go to God and be emotionally honest before the Lord, each new day.
Fenelon, a French Catholic priest in the late 1600, has taught me to pray that our difficulties would “chase us toward God.”
Patiently endure the ups and downs of everyday life.
Behind every annoying circumstance, learn to see God governing
all things. See that he trains you through troubling situations as well as
through pleasant ones. The intrusions that God sends you will no doubt
upset your plans and oppose all that you want.
But they will also chase you toward God.

May we find ourselves chasing toward and then responding to God as Job did: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2).
